Google Pixel

Post by Ric »

Richard,
I have a Google Pixel phone and I am pleased to say that the latest version of bb4android has installed and is working, the only thing that appears to be not working in the touchide. Is there a trick to opening it? It currently blanks the screen and the returns to the tools menu.
Regards
Ric

In what respect is it "not working"? If you can see and interact with the initial scrollable list of files, which I assume you must be able to in order to run any of the supplied examples, touchide is obviously working well enough to do that. Other things you can try are long-pressing (touch-and-hold) on one of the filenames; if touchide is working properly that should display a menu containing items like Edit. If you select that item it should open the program editor - at which point you've exercised pretty much every aspect of touchide!
It currently blanks the screen and the returns to the tools menu.
Do you mean when you try to run touchide.bbc from touchide, by deliberately tapping on it in the tools directory? You won't see much happening in that case because the program is CHAINing itself, so apart from some initialisation taking place the effect is pretty minimal. I have wondered whether I should display a message like 'touchide restarting' in that case, but there's no easy way to tell that touchide has been CHAINed by itself rather than by one of the other programs.

If you're unsure whether touchide is working properly I suggest you go through the list of functions at the website and check that they are all working. My guess would be that you'll find they are, and it's simply the lack of obvious action when you CHAIN touchide from itself that has caused your concern.

Richard.

P.S. I've moved this thread out of 'BBC BASIC language' where it didn't really belong.
