I am publishing this once again, both as a test of the ability to embed YouTube videos in forum posts and because I think it is a very good example of what BBC BASIC can achieve. Despite its use of music and 3D graphics the program will run, unmodified, on BBC BASIC for Windows and all editions of BBC BASIC for SDL 2.0 (Windows, Linux, Mac OS, Raspberry Pi, Android, iOS). I suspect that not many programming languages can achieve this degree of cross-platform compatibility. The program is supplied as an example with all editions of BBCSDL.
