Forum 'New topic' issue?

Post by Hated Moron »

I've received a report of the forum throwing a 'SQL error' when attempting to create a New topic. I can't reproduce the issue here (as evidenced by this topic having been created successfully) but presumably it has something to do with the forum having been moved onto a new server. Perhaps it's just 'teething troubles'. ;)

Things you could try doing, which might possibly help, are logging out and then back in again, or clearing the forum's Cookies in your browser.

Let me or the forum's admin (DDRM) know if you continue to have problems.

It appears that one reason for difficulties accessing the forum is that bbcbasic.net is considered an 'unsafe' site by some browsers and/or security suites. To override that you have to click on View site information (to the left of the URL) then Site settings then Reset permissions.

Needless to say I have no idea why bbcbasic.net should be considered unsafe. One possibility is that somebody has maliciously reported it, with the intent of damaging BBC BASIC.

People who are extremely security conscious, and as a result won't risk overriding a setting they perceive as 'protecting' them, should still be able to read the forum but may not be able to post, or possibly even to log in. :(
