I see that someone calling himself 'BasicMan' has just signed up at SB, and says he's taking part in the compo.
Not another BBC BASIC user by any chance? Time will tell...

Given the number of different BASICs, I would say it's statistically unlikely. Anyway, isn't it forbidden by the SyntaxBomb rules to mention the competition here? Wasn't there a threat of disqualification for that reason only recently?

I didn't know that, and it's the first I've heard of it. I hope it's not true!
[Edit] Sleep-deprivation-induced waffling removed

I was referring to the comment: "I think anyone who ever tried to canvas for votes by giving a link to the thread from a separate website would be instant disqualification" here. I'm not suggesting that any posts to this forum are deliberately 'canvassing for votes', but it sounds as though it's the link itself that is not allowed. I would welcome a clarification from somebody.David Williams wrote: ↑Fri 16 Nov 2018, 00:51I didn't know that, and it's the first I've heard of it. I hope it's not true!

Hello,
I don't think so. I read a Qube's post recently. Qube wants members to help to promote the SyntaxBomb forum.

I think that you should also join the SyntaxBomb forum, sure! You can make very, very excellent entries in the competitions. SyntaxBomb's members always want to see fantastic games!

BasicMan's post is "I'm excited to take part in this game competition. I'll make something, though it'll probably not be very good and get last place, it'll still be fun to take part."
BasicMan said that he might get last place. Very humble altitude! However, this post nearly shows that he is not good at or familiar with game programming. i guess that he will not be using a game BASIC language in this contest. He will only use a general purpose BASIC language.
Many general purpose BASIC languages' communities are very small nowadays. If we exclude BBC BASIC, QB64, FreeBASIC, PureBASIC, Xojo and MS Small Basic are the only big BASIC communities nowadays.
