Hello Everyone,
Please, can you help me getting the matrix codes of the Acorn BBC-B keyboard?
I installed BeebEm on my Windows 11 laptop and like to run Acornsoft Labyrinth. However, I need to change the keyboard because keys are not working on my AZERTY keyboard.
So I tried to change the keyboard layout under options "User Defined Mapping". In the DefaultUser.kmap file I changed the keys to:
Z to Arrow left
X to Arrow Right
: to Arrow down
/ to Arrow up
However, nothing is working despite the fact I load the correct DefaultUser.kmap file.
I tried with ChatGPT to create a keyboard matrix but it didn't work out. I included the Default.kmap file.
Please can you tell me how I can get the above keyboard layout? Most importantly, can you explain to me how it works?
For example:
6 1 0 6 1 0 means Row 6, column 1, unshifted
6 1 0 4 2 1 means change character at position Row 6 column 1 unshifted TO character row 4 column 2, shifted.
At least, that is what I understand. However, I cannot figure out which character is where.
Thank you so much for your help, which I appreciate.
Kind regards,
Chris

Re: Acorn BBC-B keyboard matrix
Ah, your question is not "what are the keyboard matrix numbers?", your question is "how do I create a custom keyboard map for BeebEm?" You should ask in a more appropriate place, such as StarDot. This forum is primarily about programming in BBC BASIC on various platforms, it is highly unlikely you'll find many people here who can answer questions regarding emulating hardware. You're asking "How do I install OpenOffice Writer?" at a creative writing forum instead of an Office IT Forum.
Note that due to being flooded with AI bot scrapers recently, StarDot have had to switch to requiring users to log on to access the forum, so if you don't have an account, you'll have to create one.
