The bandwidth limit of bbcbasic.co.uk (which includes this forum) is about to be exceeded, and there is nothing I can do to stop it. For some reason the total downloads are already more than double what they usually are at this time of the month.
So please immediately start using the alternative server for the in-browser edition of BBC BASIC for SDL 2.0, and be patient as far as this forum and the Wiki are concerned. Normal service should be resumed on 1st November.
This is indicative of how important it is to move this forum elsewhere, but once again this process seems to have stalled (even though it was beginning to look more hopeful).

Re: Urgent: Bandwidth about to be exceeded
I'm somewhat puzzled that the website (and this forum) seems to have come online again one day earlier than I expected (31st October rather than 1st November); I had assumed that the bandwidth limit was reset on the first of the month. Whether that means there's a danger of it going down again in the next 24 hours I don't know.
In an attempt to reduce the likelihood of a repetition in November, I've blocked a couple more IP addresses which seemed to be downloading ridiculous numbers of pages. I've also, on the advice of my hosting service, amended the robots.txt file to block the site being crawled, except by the major search engines (Google, Bing, DuckDuckGo). But of course this blocks only bots that comply.
