Mainstream Safari will now run BBC BASIC!

Good news: mainstream Safari (desktop versions 15.5 or later at least) will now run the in-browser edition of BBC BASIC for SDL 2.0! This means you no longer need to install and run Safari Technology Preview to achieve this. 8-)

All we need now is for the mobile editions of Safari (and Apple's WebKit, which provides the web engine for other iOS browsers) to follow suit! Then pretty much all browsers (except for Internet Explorer and some embedded browsers, e.g. in Twitter) will be able to run BBC BASIC.

Remember that it's really easy to create and deploy a BASIC program that can be run this way, just by clicking on a link and without needing to install anything, although inevitably speed is reduced compared with a native version of BBCSDL for the platform.

Compatibility with other editions of BBCSDL is generally excellent, except in respect of access to the internet (the socklib library doesn't work) and in one or two other minor respects such as logical (AND, OR) plotting.
