This actually raises an interesting, related, point. In my 'to do' list for BBCSDL there are tools which I think ought to exist, but currently don't. One of those is a library to create and manage toolbars, a common functionality required in GUI programs but one which is currently Do-It-Yourself (not that it's particularly difficult, you could borrow the code from SDLIDE for example).

Frankly I have no enthusiasm for creating such a library, and I'm rapidly losing the ability to create one competently anyway. So, using your own criterion, if nobody has ever asked for a toolbar library for BBCSDL in the 5 years or more that it has existed perhaps it's reasonable to conclude that no such library is needed.

Certainly I think that BBCSDL is pretty complete, and there are no significant omissions as far as libraries, tools and utilities are concerned. We just need more people to use it (and to be in a position to support it when I no longer can)!
