I have never said I am going to "close down BBC BASIC" and if you knew anything about me you would know that is the last thing I would be likely to say! I have probably done more than almost anybody else to keep BBC BASIC alive for the last 30 years or so!
It is only within the last month or two that I have developed a brand new set of lightweight, cross-platform, Console Mode editions of BBC BASIC for use when sound and graphics are not required. These editions expand BBC BASIC into areas that it has not been suitable for before, such as CGI applications, scripting, shell replacements etc. Hardly the action of somebody wanting to "close down BBC BASIC"!
I am also continuing development of BBC BASIC for SDL 2.0 with releases of new versions taking place every six weeks or so, representing the most active period of development of any of my products since the early days of BBC BASIC for Windows nearly 20 years ago. In many respects BBCSDL now outperforms BB4W, and it continues to get better (for example being interfaced with the Box2D physics engine earlier this year).
What I have said, and will repeat here so that there can be no misunderstanding, is that I don't want to have to maintain (and pay for) the website, forum, wiki and other online resources that are currently my responsibility if the number of active users is so small that they perform no useful purpose. My health (both physical and mental) is deteriorating and I am actively investigating whether somebody would be interested in acquiring the bbcbasic.* domain names from me to relieve me of this hassle and expense; I don't want to take them to my grave.
Who are you anyway, and what is your objective in posting the message to which this is a reply? It seems to me that you are the one trying to damage BBC BASIC, not me.
